Childbirth and Parenting Preparation workshops

Sr Chantelle Slabbert - B Cur Advanced Midwife - Practice number 0689386

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Pregnancy can be one of the most exciting experiences in your lifetime, but it is often negatively impacted by fear and incertainties.

I believe that knowledge is power, and my aim is to equip you with the facts you need to make informed decisions regarding your pregnancy, birth and the care of your newborn.

Antenatal classes can make a tremendous difference to your birthing experience, equipping you with the knowledge and skills you need to make confident, informed decisions.  This will ensure that you have a positive, satisfying, and above all, empowering birting experience, regardless of the type of birth you choose.

"Although birth is only one day in the life of a woman, it has an imprint on her for the rest of her life" - Justine Caines

I am Chantelle, proud mother of two boys and a passionate midwife at heart.  Ever since I can remember I've wanted to be a midwife, and when I did my first birth as a student I knew without a doubt that this is what I was born to do, my purpose in life.

I love everything related to pregnancy, birth and newborn babies, and feel privileged to be able to do something I adore every day.

I started my nursing studies in 1996 and have been a Registered Nurse (General, Psychiatric, Community) and Midwife since 2001, and have alos obtained my B Cur Degree in Advanced Midwifery and Neonatology, Nursing Education and Nursing Administration.

Professionally I have worked in both Government and Private Maternity Units, where I gained experience and eventually became a Unit Manager in the Maternity Unit.  To satisfy my love for teaching I then became a Clinical Facilitator, until recently when I went back to my first love - midwifery - and started working in a private Midwifery Obstetric Unit.

As part of my own continual professional development I have completed Perinatal Education Programs in Maternal Care, Newborn Care, Saving Mothers and Babies and Perinatal HIV, and I attend Childbirth Educator Roadshows three times a year to ensure I am up to date with the latest research.

Furthermore I have completed a course in Neonatal Resuscitation and am a RCSA certified BLS (Basic Life Support) Instructor,

It will be an honour and privilege to share my knowledge with you, to assist you in making informed decisions in order for you to have the best possible experience of pregnancy, birth and beyond.

Love always...
